The Southeast Florida Coral Reef Initiative (SEFCRI) will hold a public meeting to receive input from the public on projects implemented to protect the coral reefs of southeast Florida, from Miami-Dade through Martin County. Attendees will receive information about completed and ongoing projects and will have the opportunity to provide feedback. The meeting is scheduled in the evening from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Monday, February 12th, 2007 at the Anne Kolb Nature Center, West Lake Park, Broward County
Property Tax Reform - Legislative Public Hearings on Property Tax Reform are scheduled for Monday, February 12th, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Broward Community College's Fort Lauderdale campus. It is important to emphasize the burden placed on our marine businesses by spiraling tax bills. Please join us as this is our ONLY opportunity to voice our concerns on the official record.

MIASF's Marina & Boatyard Group will be meeting at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, February 13th , 2007 at the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum in Dania Beach. Kris McFadden of the City of Fort Lauderdale Environmental Services will be on hand to provide a sample check list of requirements for Fort Lauderdale’s upcoming Stormwater Inspections. The evening program will include a presentation of future marina developments including Hi-Lift Marina, The Harborage Club, Lauderdale Marine Center and The Sails.
MIASF's 11th Annual Plywood Regatta - We are in need of mentors for the MIASF's annual kids boat building event at the Dania Beach Pier Saturday and Sunday April 21st - 22nd. Mentors are responsible for helping a team of 6-8 students design, construct, decorate and race a seaworthy vessel using only three sheets of plywood, 3M 5200 fast-cure caulk and tie wraps. Building takes place all day Saturday and races are held on Sunday in Whiskey Creek or, weather permitting, in the ocean.
