For the month of February, Sea School is offering a two-for-one deal on tuition for classes in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida. This unique offer allows you to be trained along with your spouse or significant other while paying only one fee. It's a Valentine special, so Sea School encourages interested parties to "show the love."

Sea School can train you to operate a boat up to 100 tons and can provide you with Coast Guard approved training which leads you to a captain’s license. Sea School has been teaching mariners since 1977.

Among other topics, Sea School students learn about Techniques of Seamanship, Aids to Navigation, Navigation, Knot Tying, Boat Equipment, Boating Terminology, Rules of the Road, Radio Operation, Firefighting, Marine Weather, Distress Signaling, Use of Flares, Use of Life Jackets, Survival Techniques, Anchoring and Boat Registration.

Successful completion of this course gets students a Coast Guard license called Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV). Students do not have to take the usual Coast Guard exam, and Sea School assists with all Coast Guard paperwork. Students do take Sea School's quiz, based on the course material. Sea School estimates that one-two weeks of individual test preparation will be necessary following the completion of the coursework.

The OUPV license is also known as the "6-PACK" License. This term refers to the fact that holders of this license can only operate a boat with a 6-passenger limitation and can only take six passengers out. The word "uninspected" indicates that the equipment and the boat design of the boat are less regulated. The OUPV license can be obtained for boating on inland waters (bays, rivers, etc.), Great Lakes and up to 100 miles offshore (known as Near Coastal).

The 6-PACK license can be upgraded, allowing the mariner to obtain a Master License. Online OUPV course is excluded from offer.
